Award Winners Honored at NPSA's 2004 Conference

NPSA honored members Don Bradley, Rob Denny, Nancy Fitz, and Dan Schweitzer along with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture at the organization's 2004 Annual Conference. NPSA's award program is intended to promote and recognize innovative and creative pesticide stewardship efforts on the part of individual members, programs, organizations, government agencies, and industry.

Don Bradley (Murray Equipment) received an award for Leadership in Product Stewardship - Private. This award is given to a private sector organization, company, or member that has been a leader in this area.

Rob Denny (Arrowchase, Inc.) was given the President's Award. In 2004, this special award, which is given at the discretion of the NPSA President, was presented to Rob in recognition of his "Vision and Guidance to Environmental Stewardship Issues and Dedicated Service to the Goals of the National Pesticide Stewardship Alliance."

Nancy Fitz (US EPA) was recognized Member Contribution, for her significant contributions to the alliance, its goals, and its growth.

Dan Schweitzer (recently retired from VA Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service, currently employed by CARE Environmental) was honored for Career Achievement, to recognize his significant personal career achievements promoting the tenets of the National Pesticide Stewardship Alliance's Mission Statement.

An award for Program Innovation was given to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, for demonstrated unique and effective approaches to pesticide stewardship in their Plastic Pesticide Container Recycling Program and the CHEMSWEEP Pesticide Disposal Program. Both innovative programs support the tenets of NPSA's mission statement.

At each Annual Conference, NPSA presents awards to honor innovative and creative stewardship efforts of persons, programs, organizations, government agencies, and industry. Awards are open to all NPSA members in good standing. Nominations were solicited and awardees selected by the awards committee.
