NewsBits EPA Issues Rule Creating Uniform Waste Manifest At the end of January, EPA issued a long-awaited rule creating uniform paperwork to accompany hazardous waste shipments, which the waste treatment industry believes will save millions of dollars in paperwork costs now spent foiling out different state forms for shipments that cross state boundaries. The rule is drawing praise from the waste treatment industry, with one industry source saying the rule represents "a major step in moving towards eliminating wasted money on different state requirements." However, some state officials say they will have to develop their own manifests because fees associated with the state manifests are a key source of revenue for their environment agencies.
